Default Davis PB field review

Davis Paintball Center
Davis, CA 95616
www.davispaintball.com

Some facts i focus on
- Field owned by Micah McGlocklin of team XSV.
- Currently has 2 fields available: castle (for recballers) & airball (also has xball but the X needs some lovin').
- $25 rentals, $15 self-equipped (includes all day air)
- BYOP or buy a case for $60
- Field orders pizza for lunch from place down the street ($1 a slice or $12 for a large)

My review

I referee there so i'll try to stay as biased as possible.

The field is great for new players - cheap entry fee, good-sized recball field & close to lots of stores, restaurants & homes (there's a few houses & an apartment complex that's within walking distance). Refs are friendly & fair and on very slow days they'll even grab some gear and play with whoever showed up.

For the more serious ballers, there the airball field, which can be set up for any style of play imaginable - 3-man, 5-man, 7-man, Xball, 10-man (probably). The airball field is taken down every weekend and every know and then they switch up the setup, either to match tourney field specs or to simply mix it up a little.

Now for the cons - water. Rain is Davis PB's natural enemy. Ever since the big storms hit in Nov/Dec '05, they get flooded easily. Plus there is some creek that we think is excess water run-off for the city causing the field some problems. The most noticeable areas are the path right when you enter the parking lot, the south side of the recball field and the main airball setup area. Micah rents a pump when it gets intense but there's still lots of puddles everywhere.

They now set the airball field in a different area that is on a bit of higher ground, which helps a lot.

Despite the flooding, people still show up to play although i wouldn't recommend any superman dives on those days. When it's dry, though, the field is great. Overall, it's a good field to play at, especially for the price & location.
